About this work
Old Village by Night is a deeply atmospheric work in oil on canvas by Georgian contemporary artist Levan Mosiashvili. The painting conjures a nocturnal scene rendered in a rich palette of teal, slate, indigo, and shadow — fragmented forms suggesting a village landscape dissolving into darkness. Warm bursts of amber, red, and yellow emerge like lantern light or embers, scattered across the composition with painterly spontaneity. The heavily textured surface, worked with a palette knife, gives the work a sculptural, tactile quality that rewards close inspection.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind work, hand-painted by the artist.
