LEVAN MOSIASHVILI
01 / THE BEGINNING
AN INDEPENDENT
WAY OF SEEING.
Born in Tbilisi in 1971, Levan Mosiashvili developed his practice independently, creating his first major painting in 1993. Kakheti, his ancestral region, provided an early source of inspiration: its people, rural life and everyday encounters became subjects through which he began to shape a personal artistic language.
He later turned his attention to Tbilisi, exploring the city’s layered histories and the coexistence of its communities. Vivid colour, stylised figures and richly patterned surfaces give his work its distinctive presence. Rooted in Georgia and developed further during years in France, his practice moves between human stories and expressive abstraction.
02 / GEORGIA
FIGURES.
MEMORY.
IMAGINATION.
Figures, ornament and vivid colour shape the works presented in the Georgian Period collection. Stylised characters and patterned surfaces invite a close encounter with the paintings themselves.
Look for the relationships between figures: a shared gesture, an exchanged glance, a world held in colour.

03 / BEYOND BORDERS
GEORGIA.
FRANCE.
AN OPEN HORIZON.
The National Library’s 2013 profile describes years spent working in France and a development in palette and approach. It also records a solo exhibition in Ankara in 2006.
The wider artist-supplied archive traces appearances across cultural venues, galleries, art salons and private spaces. Its records preserve the distinction between documented events and information still awaiting corroboration.
04 / EVOLUTION
WHEN COLOUR
TAKES THE LEAD.
The 2013 National Library profile describes an interest in mosaic-like construction, cubism and abstraction. In the Abstract Period collection, composition, gesture, texture and material become a distinct field of exploration.
Explore these paintings alongside the figurative collections, following the ways colour, surface and composition change from work to work.
